This ceramic garden stool from the early 20th century keeps with tradition with its timeless, drum-form shape. The earthenware drum is sculpted with gently swelling sides and is cloaked in amber and green drip glaze in the manner of ancient sancai ware. Ringing both the top and bottom is a raised pattern of faux boss-head nails, imitating those used to stretch hide across an actual drum. Elongated quadrilobe cutouts perforate the sides for a lightweight feel and added intrigue.
