This 19th century terracotta garden stool is the ultimate in rough luxe. The stool is textured by remnants of its original painted decoration, now beautifully weathered from a century of use to reveal the warm coloring of terracotta underneath. The stool is sculpted to a traditional drum shape, with gracefully curved sides and rings of studs around the seat and base, imitating nails used to stretch hide on an actual drum. Traditionally used as a place to rest one’s feet, ceramic drum stools are ideal today as side tables, pedestals or garden seating.
