This rustic glazed vessel dates to the early 20th-century and was used for storing food and condiments in a provincial Qing-dynasty kitchen, as evidenced by its interior glaze. The wide-mouth jar has a tapered form with a constrained neck flanked by two small strap handles. Contrasted by an unfinished base, the glossy dark glaze exhibits a depth of color ranging from navy blue to warm brown, textured with firing imperfections and a subtle crackle finish.
