Centuries ago, a woven reed fisherman’s basket such as this would have been common in rural China as an everyday item, used until it became worn through. This hand-woven example remains in beautiful condition and features a tapered woven body secured to a round bentwood rim. Antique iron staples and nail heads in the wooden rim add to the basket's character and reveal the care taken to preserve its integrity over the years. Left unfinished, the basket blends into neutral interiors with matte texture and light brown color.
