Deceptively simple, these early 20th century stools from Hebei province show off the ingenious joinery methods traditionally used by Chinese carpenters. Each stool’s three splayed legs are supported by stretcher bars that interlock at the center to form a triangle. Not only does this provide stability, it adds a sense of balance and design intrigue to the otherwise simple form. Unusually tall for Chinese stools, this pair looks fantastic as casual seating at a bar counter or kitchen table.

“I am particularly fond of PAGODA RED as we have known the family for so long. Betsy is a professional in every way and her intelligent taste comes from a long line of family knowledge in the arts. She and her team are the very best to work with and we find treasures with every visit!”
