Due to their many seeds, gourds are traditionally perceived as auspicious symbols of good fortune and perpetuity. When dried, gourds became durable natural vessels used as ladles, flasks, or even musical instruments. This unusual tool is comprised of such a dried gourd, perforated with holes for use as a noodle strainer. Set on a custom steel mount, the strainer displays a graphic sculptural form and organic warmth of texture.
